Salary: £43,313 per annum+ £5,000 welcome bonus

Overview:

Our client is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Deputy Ward Manager (RMN) to support the running of a Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) based in a specialist mental health hospital in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to join a reputable provider known for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a beautiful parkland setting. The role involves supporting the Ward Manager with day-to-day clinical leadership, staff supervision and service improvement within a busy, multidisciplinary ward.

The hospital provides a wide range of specialist mental health services for adults and young people across acute, PICU, rehabilitation and eating disorder pathways. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Ward Manager in delivering a safe, therapeutic, and inclusive environment for service users, families and staff.
  • Lead shifts and act as a named nurse, supervising a defined group of staff and supporting training, supervision and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance and risk management procedures in line with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, learning and accountability within the team.
  • Support with care planning and delivery of personalised, evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Participate in staff recruitment and retention, acting as a mentor and role model to junior colleagues.
  • Take on delegated leadership responsibilities and deputise for the Ward Manager where required.

Requirements:

  • RMN qualification with active NMC registration (essential)
  • Trained Assessor/Supervisor (essential); Clinical Supervision training (desirable)
  • Experience of supervising and supporting junior clinical staff
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a shift and respond to clinical incidents effectively
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD with an interest in further leadership development
  • Confident IT user with good digital documentation skills
