Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine
Location: South West (near Bristol)
Salary: £190,000 plus £30,000 joining bonus
Employment Type: Full Time
Hours per Week: 37.5 hours
We are currently recruiting for a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine with a special interest in neuro-rehabilitation. This exciting opportunity is based at a Level 1 specialist interdisciplinary neuro-rehabilitation centre in the South West region, serving as a key provider of care for patients with acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions. The centre operates within a joint working arrangement with the NHS and offers the opportunity to play a key role in the development of rehabilitation pathways across the region.
About the Role:
As a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical services for patients with acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions. You will lead the multidisciplinary team in assessing and treating patients, ensuring evidence-based care, and contributing to patient rehabilitation goals. You will also play a key role in developing and improving rehabilitation pathways for the region.
The role offers the opportunity to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop academic and research interests. There is also the potential to take on a medical director role for the site, ideal for those seeking a management position or looking to expand their leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the multidisciplinary team providing rehabilitation care to patients with acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions
- Oversee patient assessments for admissions and contribute to rehabilitation planning
- Provide supervision and mentorship to junior doctors and team members
- Attend and participate in family meetings, case review meetings, and discharge planning meetings
- Ensure evidence-based care through national standards and guidelines
- Contribute to service development through research, innovation, and audits
- Prepare for and participate in external reviews, such as CQC and Quality Network reviews
- Engage with national networks and pathways, as well as liaise with internal and external stakeholders
What You'll Need:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- MRCP (Required)
- CCT in Rehabilitation Medicine (Required)
- Experience working in an inpatient rehabilitation setting with neurological or brain injury patients (Desirable)
- Confidence in engaging with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong leadership and clinical expertise, with a commitment to evidence-based practice
