Consultant Psychologist – Inpatient Rehabilitation Role

Location: West Yorkshire – Headingley (Leeds) and Dewsbury
Salary: Up to £78,750 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Overview

One of the UK's most well respected and established independent mental health providers are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychologist to join their senior clinical team in a dual-site role across two specialist rehabilitation hospitals in West Yorkshire.

The services provide Level 2 rehabilitation for adult male patients with complex mental health needs, supporting recovery, risk reduction and progression towards community living. One site focuses on adult mental health rehabilitation, while the second also supports individuals with additional physical health needs, neuropsychiatry presentations, older adult care and dementia.

You will work 3 days on one site and 2 days on the other, offering variety while maintaining continuity of care.

The Role

You will play a key strategic and clinical leadership role within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, contributing to both direct patient care and wider service development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for individuals with complex and enduring mental health needs
  • Providing highly specialist psychological input, drawing on CBT and at least two additional therapeutic modalities
  • Supporting the development and delivery of psychologically informed care plans and behavioural interventions
  • Offering clinical supervision, leadership and mentorship to qualified psychologists, trainees and assistants
  • Contributing to risk formulation, management strategies and recovery-focused pathways
  • Playing an active role in service evaluation, audit and quality improvement projects
  • Working collaboratively with senior clinicians and managers to support service planning, innovation and pathway development
  • Promoting best practice, reflective working and psychologically safe team cultures

About You

This role would suit a confident, resilient Consultant Psychologist who enjoys balancing hands-on clinical work with strategic influence.

You will bring:

  • Doctoral level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
  • HCPC registration
  • Strong grounding in CBT, plus at least two additional therapeutic approaches
  • Experience working with complex presentations within inpatient, rehabilitation or forensic-adjacent settings
  • Demonstrable leadership and management experience, including supervision and service development
  • Confidence operating at both clinical and strategic levels
  • A collaborative, compassionate approach and strong professional judgement

What’s on Offer

In return, you’ll receive a genuinely supportive package designed to help you thrive long-term:

  • Competitive salary up to £78,750
  • Birthday leave (an extra day off to celebrate)
  • Enhanced maternity pay
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Free on-site parking
  • Access to funded CPD and professional development, including sponsorship for further qualifications
  • Leadership and management development programmes
  • Health and wellbeing benefits, including healthcare cash plans and discounted gym membership
  • Long service awards and referral bonuses
  • Clear progression pathways within a large, well-established mental health provider

Additional Information

  • Pre-employment checks will apply, including an enhanced DBS
  • Applications may be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the vacancy may close early if sufficient interest is received
