Job Purpose

You will be part of a highly skilled and multidisciplinary clinical team, working alongside Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, and other professionals to deliver high-quality, integrated care.
You will work closely with children and young people, providing comprehensive assessments and interventions tailored to address sensory, motor, perceptual, and functional life skills needs. Your expertise will contribute to the development of multidisciplinary therapeutic plans that align with EHCP requirements and support the overall wellbeing and access to learning for each young person.
Children and young people in our care may present with complex and challenging behaviours, and as an Occupational Therapist, you will use child-centred, creative approaches to foster engagement, build relationships, and enhance therapeutic outcomes. You will play a key role in developing personalized strategies that are sensitive to each child's unique needs and experiences.
In addition, you will serve as a role model for other clinicians and educational staff, exemplifying the values and professional standards expected within our organisation, while ensuring that therapeutic support is effectively integrated into all aspects of care and learning.

You will be responsible for:

Responsibilities:

  • Use advanced specialist knowledge and levels of experience appropriately and effectively across a range of work practices which is underpinned by comprehensive and extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
  • Assess the motor, perceptual and sensory integration skills of the young people and to ascertain how any differences impact on their function and participation.
  • Write reports based on your findings to support the young people, education and care staff and to inform annual reviews.
  • To undertake high quality assessments of children and young people and make
  • recommendations about appropriate therapeutic interventions for each child or young person, in accordance with individual assessed needs.
  • To provide line management and clinical supervision to allocated Therapies Assistants within the setting and to support Newly Qualified Occupational Therapists within the setting
  • To work closely with children, young people and their staff to ensure a personalised plan of delivery.
  • To participate in service and practice development.
  • To identity training needs, develop and facilitate training sessions to staff and parents/carers.
  • To prepare high-quality reports and quality assure reports.
  • To complete administrative requirements in a timely manner. These include evidencing that you are meeting EHCP requirements, liaison and completion of MDT reports and updating EHCP targets.
  • To participate in the Group’s Staff Development Programme and attend monthly, clinical and line management supervision. To complete progress reviews monthly in the first 6 months and then termly

Requirements

You must be:

  • Be a qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC
  • Have experience and be skilled in delivering therapeutic interventions for children and young people with complex needs
  • Need experience of supporting teams around a child or young person to ensure they are being provided with clinically informed living and learning environments and experiences
  • Be a confident, engaging and effective, model, guide, leader and
    trainer.
  • Be highly organised and ready to take the initiative
  • Be committed to ensuring the best outcomes for young people
